Caleruega Church

When Nard and I attended the opening of Bella Alba in Tagaytay, we decided to had a side trip to Caleruega church in Nasugbu Batangas. I first saw this when my brother visited the place with his friends, I got a little bit envy and so I wanted to visit the place too especially the church (cause there’s an old tradition that when you visit the church for the first time you can make a wish and it will come true).

The church is located in Brgy. Caylaway Batulao Nasugbu Batangas, if you go there with a private car just take the SLEX and make an exit at Sta. Rosa exit (waze is always there for you, so don’t hesitate to use it haha). But when you are on a commute, ride a bus in Buendia Pasay going to Nasugbu Batangas and drop off in Evercrest (hillcrest) from there ride a tricycle and tell the driver that you are going to Caleruega church.

Caleruega is known to be the most popular wedding church/ place in Tagaytay. There’s an entrance fee that costs 80php with a free map of the place. Remember to observe silence to respect the people meditating and praying. According to the brochure, Caleruega was named after the birthplace of St. Dominic De Guzman, father of the order of preachers. Wishing to honor and remember the legacy of their founder, the filipino dominicans established Caleruega with the hopes that it will, like the town of Caleruega in spain, be a birthplace- a genesis for people speaking to and for the divine creator.

The place is majestic, actually I enjoy being there, it is so solemn and peaceful, as they say the place is "close to nature and closer to God". There were so many sights to see there as you enter the vicinity.

You will pass by some ponds full with colorful koi fish and a hanging bridge going to the tent chapel of transfiguration. They also have a garden cafe if you are hungry, a worm farm and a greenhouse of vegetables; they also have a gazebo and some cottages for retreats.

To finish your tour off you must check the famous chapel of transfiguration where you will be amazed by its architectural design and its solemnity will give you goose bumps.

So guys don’t forget to drop off on this place whenever you visit Tagaytay.
